IMPLEMENTATION OF AN INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF SARANSK

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

The implementation of the ITS in Saransk is aimed at addressing key challenges:
  • Reducing delays and increasing traffic speed through real-time traffic flow management
  • Decreasing the number and severity of traffic accidents by introducing automated monitoring and control systems
  • Enabling real-time traffic flow monitoring and management
  • Creating a unified system for data-driven analysis and decision-making

PROJECT STAGES:

2023 — DEPLOYMENT OF THE MONITORING SYSTEM:
  • Installation of 91 tactical detectors and the monitoring subsystem
2024 — SYSTEM EXPANSION:
  • Installation of 110 strategic detectors to monitor inter-junction sections
  • Installation of 85 tactical detectors at traffic light intersections
  • Implementation of an accident and emergency subsystem for automatic incident detection
  • Integration with Elsistar traffic controllers to enable adaptive traffic light control

RESULTS:

The use of TrafficData software, based on the collected data, made it possible to:
  • Reduce intersection delays by implementing adaptive control at selected traffic light sites
  • Detect incidents promptly using the real-time monitoring system
  • Improve road safety through the analysis of traffic accident and incident statistics, enabling the development of measures to reduce accident rates
