Anti-Fraud — Detecting Vehicles with Concealed License Plates
TrafficData FreeFlow can detect vehicles whose drivers attempt to avoid identification by concealing or obstructing the visibility of their license plates.
If a vehicle’s license plate is not recognized or is concealed when passing through a control gantry, the system searches for the same vehicle among passages recorded at adjacent control points.
Vehicles are matched based on:
- time and sequence of passages;
- vehicle type;
- appearance and distinctive visual characteristics.
If the same vehicle was previously recorded at an adjacent control point with a clearly readable license plate, the system matches the events and identifies the vehicle.
This approach helps reduce the number of unidentified passages and improves the effectiveness of toll enforcement even when drivers deliberately attempt to conceal their license plates.
